Editing your own website without a developer
What “you can edit it yourself” means in a Kroventra build, shown on a delivered site: Laura Silverfire’s one-page website with 18 editable fields and two owner-swappable backgrounds — saved changes are live immediately.
The site this describes
The walkthrough
Five steps, the same every time.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Open /admin | The owner goes to her site’s /admin address and signs in. No plug-ins, no dashboard with forty menus: one screen that mirrors the public page. |
| 2. Pick the field | Every visible text on the page is one of 18 fields: headlines, paragraphs and the four glyph marks. Each field is labelled with where it appears (“Hero — headline”, “Services — offering 2”). |
| 3. Edit and save | Type the new text and save. The public page reads the fields on load, so the change is live immediately — no deploy, no cache to clear. Layout, fonts and spacing are fixed, so a longer sentence simply wraps; the 18 fields are text and two image slots, so layout and code are out of reach. |
| 4. Swap a background | Two image slots: desktop and mobile background. Upload a photo and save; the site resizes and compresses it and the new image is live at once. |
| 5. Check the live page | Reload the public page: the change is there. If a sentence reads wrong, edit it again — there is no developer in the loop and no approval queue. |
What the owner can and cannot change
The split is deliberate. Everything that is content is yours; everything that keeps the site fast, consistent and secure is ours.
| Owner changes | Fixed by design |
|---|---|
| Every headline and paragraph (18 fields) | Layout, section order and spacing |
| The four glyph marks | Fonts, colours and the design system |
| Desktop background image | Form behaviour (newsletter, enquiry) |
| Mobile background image | Performance budget: images are compressed on upload |

Asking for this in your own build
Owner editing is included in every Kroventra website build. What we agree per site is which texts and images you will want to change: for a one-page site that is typically every headline and paragraph plus one or two image slots; for a multi-page site it is often prices, opening hours and a news section. List them in the quote request under “what you want to edit yourself”; the agreed fields are part of the build price, not an extra. See the website packages for build prices (from €950) and optional managed hosting from €39 per month.
